Shillong May 01: A meeting of MDCs of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) convened by the Chief Executive Member (CEM), Teiñwell Dkhar on Monday ended without any decision after some MDCs who had withdrawn support, did not attend the meeting.
Only 10 MDCs attended the meeting, but the MDC of UDP, Nasser Marweiñ has informed that he could not attend the meeting as he was not well.
The CEM said that the other MDCs of the UDA had waited for few hours, but later they informed that they cannot come to the meeting since they were late, but they have assured that the meeting would be again held on Thursday.
“We welcome the suggestion of our friends to have another meeting on Thursday ,†Dkhar said.
The CEM hoped that all the MDCs of the UDA would reconsider their decision and discuss together all issues and problems as expressed by the members.
Asked if he would reconsider the decision to give Rs 50 lakh to each MDC from the Central grant out of Rs 52 crore, the CEM said that he was ready to discuss with the members any time.
“It was not my decision alone on this issue, and I am ready to discuss and take a decision that will be in the interest of all members,†he said.
The UDA has 19 MDCs in the KHADC, but six MDCs had withdrawn support from the UDA – Executive Members (EM), Victor Rani, Mitchel Wankhar and Macdalyn S. Mawlong, Gigur Myrthong and Independents, Lambor Malngiang, and Latiplang Kharkongor.
