Shillong Oct 3: Opposition MDCs in KHADC would soon meet to discuss the inclusion of projects being executed under the Special Grant Assistance within the ambit of GST.

According to the MDCs, inclusion of projects under GST would affect the local contractors and Dorbar Shnongs that execute projects of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council under the Special Grant Assistance given by the Central government during the year 2015-2016.
UDP MDC from Umsning, Donkupar Sumer on Tuesday said that the MDCs would meet together to discuss the issue
The Opposition members in KHADC include those from the Congress, UDP, HSPDP and some Independents.

According to Sumer many complaints have been received with regards to the inclusion of development projects under the Special Grant Assistance under GST and such move has created lot of confusion among the local contractors, Dorbar Shnongs, even officers of the KHADC.
Congress member and Leader of Opposition in KHADC, Manstudy Nongrem also said that there was confusion among the officers of the KHADC, local contractors and Dorbar Shnongs since they have been informed that certain amount would be deducted under GST from the amount sanctioned for various development projects.

The KHADC had received Rs 133.12 crore as Special Grant Assistance from the Central government during the year 2015-2016, and the fund was meant for various developmental activities.
