Shillong, Dec 7: The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) on Thursday announced its second list of eight candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections to be held in February next year.
Sarita Lyngdoh, the wife of former minister Founder Strong Cajee is one among the candidates declared by PDF president, Ivanlumlang Marbaniang after the party’s central election committee meeting here.
Lyngdoh will be contesting from Mawlai constituency against the sitting UDP legislator Embhahlang Syiemlieh.
The announcement came after the PDF Mawlai Zonal Committee was recently dissolved in protest against the PDF’s decision to deny ticket to Teibor Pathaw, who had joined much earlier.
The other candidates include two sitting MDCs of the KHADC Arbinus Lyngdoh from Umroi constituency and James Ban Basaiawmoit from Pynthorumkhrah, Highlander Kharmalki – Mawryngkneng, Judah J.M. Wahlang – Sohiong, Leston Wanswett – Shella, Councellor S. Wahlang – Mairang and Synranlang Nongshlong – Rambrai-Jyrngam.
The third list of candidates will be released soon.
“The party will also look at Garo Hills and announce its candidates from few constituencies,” he said.
He also informed that the party’s target was to contest from atleast 40 out of 60 Assembly seats in the upcoming Assembly elections.
