Shillong, Jan 15: Independent legislator Saleng A Sangma resigned as member of the Assembly and joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) where he was appointed as president of the party in the state.
Sangma joined the NCP and led from the front after NCP legislatior, Sanbor Shullai joined the BJP.
Saleng resigned as member of the Assembly during the day.
Saleng told reporters that the NCP will come to power the state because of its clean image. “There is no accusation against the NCP. We are for the people and we want to assure that the state will remain peaceful,†Saleng said.
Saleng was representing Gambegre constituency. Earlier 13 MLAs have also resigned as MLA.
