Shillong, Jan 24: Security has been beefed up ahead of the Republic Day celebrations in the state.

Deputy Chief Minster, Prestone Tynsong on Friday said that elaborate security arrangement has been made to ensure peaceful Republic Day celebrations across the state.

“Instruction has been given to the Director General of Police (DGP) to take care of all these issues and I am sure the celebration of Republic Day will be a grand success,” Tynsong said.

He said security forces are on the job to thwart any security threat.

Meanwhile, the deputy chief minister urged the people of the state to come out in large number and celebrate the Republic Day on January 26, in a befitting manner.
