State Govt accused of being partial over distribution of rehabilitation package to ANVC-B cadres

Shillong, Nov 23: Disbanded Achik National Volunteer Council – Breakaway (ANVC-B) has accused the state government of favouring the United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA) in the distribution of rehabilitation package to surrendered cadres.

“The government had paid Rs 2.5 lakh to the cadres of UALA which is a faction of ANVC-B but is paying only Rs 1.5 lakh to the mother organisation. Is there a political agenda in favouring UALA over ANVC-B?” ANVC.B former organizing secretary AR Marak asked in a statement issued here on Thursday.

He said the organization was not even aware about the cadres who could not be traced, and moreover, the pre-disbanding decision was Rs 2.5 lakh not Rs 1.5 lakh.

Demanding that the matter should be reviewed, Marak informed that confusion among former ANVC-B cadres is going on as most of the cadres are yet to receive the packages.

“The cadres are making hue and cry over release of packages to those who submitted the accounts bypassing the leaders whereas those who submitted through the leaders are yet to be added in the list to avail the packages,” he alleged.

He also said that the cadres were verified couple of times but the names of General Secretary and other senior members are not included in the list to avail the packages which is creating a big confusion among the rank and files of the organization.

“Many cadres who are in contact with us are not aware of the package being deposited in their accounts,” he said.

Marak also urged the police to verify the receipt of the packages with the former cadres before issuing any statement in media as most cadres misinterpret the statements.

Moreover accounts which were not submitted through the leaders but through the police got the packages long time back which was not informed to the leaders. It is requested to hold a review meeting to clarify the doubts and confusion, he said.

Meanwhile, he further alleged that the government is yet to withdraw the cases slapped on ANVC.B members and submit the complete list of cadres who availed the packages, and also form a State level monitoring committee as decided in the Centre level monitoring committee meeting at MHA, New Delhi.
