Tenth Meghalaya Assembly’s maiden budget session to begin on Friday

Shillong, Mar 15: The maiden budget session of the tenth Meghalaya Assembly will begin with the Governor’s address here on Friday

The session which will conclude on April 20 is the maiden budget session of the new House that was constituted on March 7.

The budget session will have 18 working days, including six days allotted for private members business and 12 days for transacting government’s business in the House.

During the session, the election to the post of deputy Speaker will be also held on March 21.

Debate on governor’s address will take place on March 19 and April 5, while the chief minister will reply to the debate on governor’s address on April 6.

It is also a maiden presentation of budget estimates of the state for the year 2018-19 by chief minister, Conrad Kongkal Sangma who holds the finance portfolio. He will present the budget estimates on March 23 and on the same day, the chief minister will also present a vote-on-account in the House.

The House will also pass the Meghalaya Appropriation (Vote-on-Account) Bill, 2018 on March 23.

General discussion on the budget will be held on April 10 and 12 and the chief minister will reply to the discussion on the budget on April 13.
