Shillong, Apr 21: One of the five accused persons was arrested for looting and killing a man in a remote village of East Jaiñtia Hills district.
The deceased has been identified as Kumno Sukhlaiñ. He was found murdered at a place known as Wah Tyra under Daistong village on Monday, police said.

The prime accused, Biang Lyngdoh was arrested by Saipung police with the help of the villagers.

The other accused – Thos Lyngdoh, Baian Lyngdoh, Toning Lyngdoh and Hap Lyngdoh – are still absconding.

According to police, efforts are being made to arrest the other accused persons.

From the possession of the arrested accused, a dao (weapon), and one SBBL gun which was looted from the victim were recovered.

A case has been registered with the Saipung police station.
