Shillong, Feb 05 : As many as 107 candidates filed their nominations for the February 27 Meghalaya Assembly polls on the fourth day of filing papers today, taking the total number of nominations filed so far to 144.
Public Works Department Minister Martin M. Danggo, Education Minister Deborah Ch. Marak filed their nomination papers as Congress from Ranikor assembly seat and Williamnagar assembly seat and Opposition Chief Whip James Pangsang Kongkal Sangma from Dadenggre constituency as the nominee of the National People’s Party.
Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPSP) Chief, Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit from Nongkrem constituency, and Garo National Council (GNC) president, Kalpana D. Sangma from Chokpot constituency, and People’s Democratic Front (PDF) chairman and chief ministerial candidate of the party, P.N. Syiem from Mawsynram constituency also field their nominations.
Veteran politicians like Martle N. Mukhim from Mawkynrew constituency of the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), former Deputy Chief minister, Rowell Lyngdoh from Mawkyrwat constituency and former Deputy Chief Minister, Timothy D. Shira from Resubelpara, and former minister, Frankenstein W. Momin from Mendipathar all of the National People’s Party (NPP) filed their nominations.
Journalist-turned politician Starfing Jove Langpen Pdahkasiej also filed his nomination papers as the nominee of the Nationalist Congress Party.
