Shillong, Aug 3: Twenty-two members of the Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Shella Area announced their decision to resign from the organization as a mark of protest against the alleged style of functioning of the Council’s general secretary.
Speaking to reporters here on Friday, HYC Shella Area president, Macdonald Mawa said that the resignation letters of all 22 members were submitted to the HYC president, Robertjune Kharjahrin after a meeting held on July 20.
“We have decided to dissolve the HYC in Shella as we are totally against the style of functioning of the general secretary of the HYC central body, Roy Kupar Synrem,†he said.
Mawa alleged that the general secretary have refused to support issues taken up by the Shella Unit on many occasions.
Citing an instance, he said, “We had supported the secretary of the district council court who was removed from office, however Synrem was part of a group of people who had filed a complaint against the secretary of the district council court.â€
