Shillong, Oct 20: As many as 29 people were detained by police for gambling, creating nuisance and bursting crackers after 10 pm in the city on Thursday night.

Ten people were detained for gambling, others were detained for consuming liquor and creating nuisance, police said.

They said that the action was taken to ensure Diwali celebration passed of peacefully.
