Shillong, Nov 3: The 3rd inter-clan knockout football tournament, 2017 being organised by the Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya will commence from on November 11.
The tournament will be held at Smit, Hima Khyrim.
Champion team will be awarded a prize money of Rs 25000 and Rs 10,000 for the runners-up team along with trophies
This was informed by chairman of the Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya, John F. Kharshiing.
The entry fee for each team is Rs 3500. However for those teams that have write-up about the clan the entry fee for each team is Rs 2500.
The last date for submission of form is on November 4.
According to Kharshiing, the aim of the event is to create awareness about the importance of the unique clan system that exists in various parts of the state.
The first inter-clan football tournament started in 2015 with a total of 28 teams from various clans participating in the event. The Kharbyngar clan won the title in the inaugural tournament, while Rynjah clan emerged champions in 2016 which saw the participation of 39 clan teams.
