HSPDP condemns Assam for claiming Langpih

Shillong, SEPT 13: Opposition Hill State People Democratic Party (HSPDP) today condemned the Assam government for claiming that Meghalaya has encroached in Langpih, a village located along the inter-state border in West Khasi Hills District of the state.

“We condemned the recent claim of the Assam government that Meghalaya is encroaching in Langpih, which is an integral part of the state,” HSPDP chief Ardent M Basaiawmoit said here on Wednesday.

Stating that it is the other way round, he said in fact it is the Assam government that have encroached in the territory of Meghalaya adding “It is shameless on the part of the Assam government to blame Meghalaya for that matter.”

Basaiawmoit also said that the claim of the Assam government is not acceptable at all because Langpih as well as other places which have been encroached by Assam falls under Meghalaya.

Meanwhile, the HSPDP president also demanded the state government to speed up the process of solving the border problems with Assam as assured in the state Assembly from time to time.
