67th Plenary of NEC to begin on Monday in Shillong

Shillong, July 7: The 67th Plenary of the North Eastern Council will be chaired by Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh in Shillong on Monday.

Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region, Jitendra Singh, members of the NEC and other officials from both NEC and Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region will attend the plenary to be held at the State Convention Centre in Shillong at 2 pm.

The Plenary will be held for two days and will conclude on Tuesday.

The Plenary will have various presentations on issues related to all round development of the North Eastern Region.

Some of the major issues to be discussed include finding ways and means to complete long-pending projects of the NEC in a specific time frame, transformation of the 14 aspirational districts/Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (GSA- 1 & 2) in NER, Strengthening Livelihood Programmes in NE Region, Water Resources Management in NER, Catchment Area Treatment in NER through afforestation, Doubling Farmers’ Income by 2022 in NER, Road Connectivity in NER, ‘POSHAN ABHIYAAN’, ‘AYUSHMAN BHARAT’, Security related matters pertaining to North Eastern States etc.

The Plenary will also discuss continuation of NEC Schemes till March, 2020 as approved by the Union Cabinet in March 2018.
