Shillong, July 16: A list of executive members (EMs) of the newly formed NPP-led Khasi Hills Democratic Alliance (KHDA) Executive Committee was forwarded on Monday by the KHADC chief executive member (CEM), Hispreaching Son Shylla to the District Council Affairs (DCA) department of the state government for getting the approval of the Governor.

Shylla submitted the names of eight MDCs who will be inducted as EMs to the Commissioner and Secretary of the DCA department

The MDCs whose names have been included in the list include 3 United Democratic Party (UDP) MDCs – Neil Antonio War, Rona Khymdeit and Donkupar Sumer, 3 People’s Democratic Front (PDF) MDCs – James Sylliang, Latiplang Kharkongor and Blanding Warjri, and 2 National People’s Party (NPP) MDCs – Jansing Tynsong and Victor Ranee.

The KHDA is a coalition being supported by 4 NPP, 5 UDP, 4 PDF, 3 Hill State People Democratic Party (HSPDP), 1 Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) and 1 Independent.

Shylla said that portfolios to the new EMs would be allotted once the list is approved by the Governor.

Meanwhile Shylla said that the KHDA has decided to field UDP PP leader, Teinwell Dkhar in the election to the post of Chairman and UDP member from Mairang, Equator Nongrang for the post of Deputy Chairman of the Council.

The post of Chairman in the KHADC fell vacant following the sudden resignation of PDF member LG Nongsiej recently which led to the postponement of the election to the CEM post.

On the other hand, the KHADC chief said that the HSPDP member from Mylliem Teilinia Thangkhiew, who has been appointed as Protem Chairman at the moment, will take over as Deputy Chief Executive Member of the Council.

The session of the KHADC will be held on July 25 and the election to the post of the Council’s Chairman will be held after filling up the post of Deputy Chairman.

The post was lying vacant for more than two years.
