Shillong Aug 8: The BJP in Meghalaya has nominated a new president pf the State Mahila Morcha, after Pelcy Snaitang resigned from the post recently.

State BJP president, Shibun Lyngdoh has nominated Annasa Stasia as the new President of the State Mahila Morcha. The name of Stasia was approved during the meeting of the State Mahila Morcha at the State BJP office here which was attended by presidents of all the district Mahila Morchas on Tuesday.

Snaitang resigned from the BJP on July 30, claiming that she and her supporters had lost confident in the leadership of the BJP State President.

Snaitang was the BJP candidate from Ranikor Assembly constituency in the February-27 Assembly elections.

Snaitang is now supporting United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate, Pius Marweiñ in the upcoming bye election to Ranikor constituency to be held on August 23.
