HSPDP gets new office bearers for East Khasi Hills district

Shillong, Oct 4: The HSPDP East Khasi Hills district on Thursday got its new office bearers and resolved to first focus on strengthening the party in various constituencies of the district as the party prepares for the upcoming elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council next year.

The new office bearers of the HSPDP East Khasi Hills District Executive Committee include former MLA and minister, Martle N. Mukhim as President, October Jyrwa and Sherborlang L. Mawlong as Vice Presidents, General Secretary C.B. Ryntathiang, Joint Secretary, Bluestar Mukhim and Treasurer, Rodson Warjri.

The office bearers of the District Women’s Wing comprised of President Agnes Kharsahnoh, Vice Presidents – Bitalis Warjri and Wanlinda Suting, General Secretary, Sony Kharjana, Joint Secretary, Aisilin Tangsang, Treasurer Rilis Kharlukhi, Finance Secretary Nibahun Langstieh, Organiser Hunbon Kharphuli and Samlin Malngiang as Adviser.

The District Youth Wing has Bah Sandondor Ryntathiang as President, Vice President, Bhaling Mawkhiew and Bornstarfield Marbañiang, General Secretary, Banangsan Tangsang, Joint Secretary Bandashaitbor Thawmuit and Wonderson Dkhar, Treasurer, Sainbudsar Kharsyntiew and Adviser, October Jyrwa.

Talking to reporters after the first general council of HSPDP East Khasi Hills district, Mukhim said that various resolutions have been adopted and the same would be forwarded to the Central Executive Committee of the party.

He however said that the party would first concentrate in strengthening the organization in all constituencies in the District especially while preparing for the upcoming elections to the KHADC.

Earlier, President of the party, K.P Pangniang, Mawkyrwat MLA, Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, Mylliem MDC and Deputy CEM, Teilinia Thangkhiew, Manstudy Nongrem, L.G. Nongsiej and other party leaders spoke at the meeting.

Shillong, Oct 4: HSPDP president, K.P Pangniang on Thursday said that his party has not discussed anything on having a common candidate from the UDP in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from Shillong Parliamentary seat.

Pangniang told reporters that the focus at present is the preparations for celebrating 50 years of the formation of the party on November 10. The HSPDP was founded on November 10, 1968.

“The issue related to having a common candidate is not in our mind yet and we have not received any request from the UDP or any partner in the coalition MDA to have a discussion on this issue,” Pangniang said.

He said that the main aim now would be to strengthen party in all the districts and constituencies of Khasi Hills and also reorganize the party in Jaiñtia Hills.

Asked about seat sharing with the UDP for the upcoming district council elections as it was done in the Assembly elections, Pangniang said that there will be no pre-poll alliance and both parties are free to contest all constituencies.

On Ardent Basaiawmoit who had resigned as President of the party, Pangniang said that till date, there was no meeting with him after he resigned as President.

“He is still with the party and we have not removed anybody from the party,” he said.

He also said that some documents are still with the former President of the party including those related to election expenditures.

“We had received some documents but more papers that the party should send to the Election Commission are still with him,” he said.

PHE minister, Samlin Malngiang said that the party had also written to Basaiawmoit to provide the party the relevant papers.

Stating that the party does not want to lose leaders and members, Malngiang said, “as a party, we have to work collectively as a team and cannot blame anyone.”
