BSF Meghalaya Frontier recovers arms from area under Shella BOP

Shillong, Oct 6: The BSF Meghalaya Frontier recovered arms and other items from the border area of Shella Border Outpost, planned by smugglers to be delivered to their counterparts in Bangladesh.

According to the BSF, in view of the forthcoming general elections in Bangladesh, there are likely chances of smuggling of Arms from India to Bangladesh in the coming days.

“Inspector General of BSF Meghalaya Frontier, Lalatendu Mohanti has already sensitized all border deployed battalions to be more alert to foil such attempts of Arms smuggling from India to Bangladesh,” the statement said.

The BSF said that it got information on Friday evening about concentration of few arms smuggler who were there to deliver arms to their associates in Bangladesh through some unknown cattle smugglers.

The BSF party tried to encircle the area in order to apprehend these miscreants but they managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness and thick forest.

On search of the area, items were recovered by the BSF party which include five numbers of country made 12 bore single barrel gun, 3 cartridges, 5 cattle heads, one mobile phone and two SIM card, 4 torch ligh
