Shillong Nov 1: After the United Democratic Party (UDP) decided to recommend the name of former MLA, Jemino Mawthoh to be the common candidate of the MDA in the Lok Sabha elections next year, the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) will also meet to discuss the issue next week.
A meeting of the Central Working Committee of the PDF has been convened on November 5.
Urban Affairs Minister and PDF legislator, Hamletson Dohling said that the party will discuss whether the PDF should also select its candidate and propose to the MDA Coordination Committee to be common candidate of the MDA.
“Whether the PDF will choose its candidate or not will depend on the CWC,†Dohling said.
The PDF has four MLAs in Assembly. The UDP has already decided to propose the name of Jemino as the common candidate of the MDA.
The MDA government was formed by six political parties which include the National People’s Party (NPP), UDP, PDF, Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), BJP, NCP and Independents.
