NPP discusses preparations for upcoming MDC, Lok Sabha polls in state

Shillong, Nov 29: The National People’s Party (NPP) on Thursday held a meeting and discussed preparations for the upcoming MDC and Lok Sabha elections, to be held next year.

The meeting was chaired by the party’s national president and chief minister, Conrad K Sangma chaired.

After the meeting, Sangma told reporters that the meeting discussed how to strengthen the party and work in the upcoming MDC and Lok Sabha elections.

He also informed that leaders from Jaiñtia Hills which include ex-MLAs and ex-MDCs were also welcomed to the party during the meeting.

The party workers were also informed about the government’s decision to institute an independent inquiry into the recent brutal attack on social activist Agnes Kharshiing and her aide, Amita Sangma.

Nidamon Chullet, working president of NPP, East Jaiñtia Hills was identified as the main mastermind behind the attack by one of the victims.

“We have been very clear on this that it doesn’t matter who the person is and to which party he/she belongs to, but law will take its own course and action will be taken based on evidence,” he NPP chief assured.
