Shillong Feb 5: As many as 46 candidstes filed their nominations on Tuesday for the upcoming elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) to be held February 27.

Of this, 35 candidates are from different constituencies of the KHADC, 11 of them from constituencies of JHADC.

A former chief executive member, sitting members of the two autonomous district councils besides three women including a first timer were among the candidates who filed their nomination papers.

The sitting MDCs who filed their nominations include Pynïaid Sing Syiem (NPP) from Sohryngkham, Jansing Tynsong (NPP) from Langkyrdem-Laitkroh, Lamphrang Blah (INC) from Mawphlang-Diengiei, Grace Mary Kharpuri (INC) from Nongshken, Rona Khymdeit (UDP) from Nongpoh and Donkupar Sumer (UDP) from Umsning.

Thombor Shiwat, former CEM of the JHADC has also filed his nomination to seek re-election on an NPP ticket from Nartiang Umladang constituency.

Saralinda Kharlukhi, candidate of the UDP will be contest for the first time against sitting MDC James Ban Basaiawmoit and former KHADC chief PN Syiem from Mawkhar – Pynthorumkrah constituency.

The other candidates include Kris Kharsati (UDP) from Sohryngkham, Ronald H Kharumnuid (INC) – Sohryngkam, Holiwell Khongstid (NPP) – Nongshken, Alvin Khyriem Sawkmie (NPP) – Mawsynram, Rudy Hess Shangpliang (INC) – Mawsynram, Gilbert G laloo (HSPDP) – Mylliem, S Basing Roy Kharshandi (UDP) – Nongthymmai, Anthony N Nongbri (NPP) – Laitumkrah-Malki, Teiborlang Pathaw (IND) – Mawlai, Kestar Warjri (HSPDP) –Mawphlang-Diengiei, Bainor Rapsang (NPP) – Mawphlang-Diengiei, Sherborlang Mawlong (HSPDP) – Nongspung-Sohiong and Haislet Kharhunai (INC) – Nongspung-Sohiong.
