Next cabinet meeting will be held at Jowai in West Jaiñtia Hills district

Shillong June 10: After holding the first ever cabinet meeting at Tura, the West Garo Hills district on Monday, the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government has decided to hold the next cabinet meeting at Jowai, the district headquarter of West Jaiñtia Hills district.

Informing this after the Cabinet meeting held at Circuit House, Tura on Monday, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong told reporters that Tynsong said that critics were there criticizing the MDA government for holding the cabinet meeting outside the state capital.

Tynsong said that few critics were unnecessary asking why the cabinet has to be held in Tura. “This decision was taken by our Chief Minister and the MDA govt for the benefit of the state. This is very important to us, and we should not be misled because the people of the state will be blessed by having Cabinet meetings in each and every district head quarters of our state,” Tynsong said, while announcing that Jowai will host the next cabinet meeting.

However the date for the meeting is yet to be finalised.

The cabinet meeting at Tura on Monday was chaired by Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma in the presence of other council of ministers and officers.

Cabinet meetings have been held only in the state capital especially the State Secretariat. It was for the first time that the Cabinet meeting has been held outside the state capital Shillong.
