Shillong Aug 3: The Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has apprehended and pushed back as many as 45 labourers found to have been engaged in construction works in Shillong city without valid documents.

The HYC Shillong City conducted surprise checking at different construction sites at Pynthorumkhrah and Mawtawar village.

General secretary of the Council, Enlang Sawian said that a total of 45 labourers from outside the state were apprehended as they could not produce valid documents including labour license asked them to immediately go back to their place of origin.

The HYC also sought to know from contractors as to how the labourers were engaged with the permission from the headman of Mawtawar.

“We appeal and also warned all village heads who allowed illegal labourers to work in their respective area ,” he said.
