Shillong, Sept 30: The BJP has assured to bring fund from Delhi for development of Shella constituency which is lacking behind in terms of development including road infrastructure.

After the filing of nominations of BJP candidate for the bye election to Shella constituency, Joshua Warjri, BJP legislator, Sanbor Shullai urged the people of Shella constituency to vote for Warjri and the BJP on October 21 to ensure that funds for development Shella reach directly from Delhi as the BJP is ruling at the Centre.

Warjri said that Shella required lot of attention from the government due to lack of development especially road.

He assured that if elected as MLA, he would work to uplift the constituency by working together with the people and the BJP leaders.

He also informed that for sanctioning of schemes for the state government and district councils in Meghalaya should be consulted with the party in the state,

“Before sanctioning any Central scheme for Meghalaya, the government in Delhi has to first call BJP leaders from the state for consultation and screening. The chief minister and other ministers, besides executive members of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council visited Delhi frequently to seek financial assistance from the Centre,” he said.

Shullai also informed that in the last memorandum submitted to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Union minister, Amit Shah, the state BJP has stated that all Central schemes before sanctioning, should be first scrutinized thoroughly by the state BJP, and then form a monitoring and implementation committee to ensure that schemes are really implemented and they should not remain in secretariat.

The BJP has two MLAs and is part of the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government in Meghalaya.

“Everybody has to go to Delhi to seek financial help. Therefore it is of no use for the people of Shella to vote for Team B or Team C (of the BJP), but they should directly vote for the BJP candidate (Warjri) so that the BJP can bring money directly from Delhi to develop the constituency,” Shullai urged.

Stating that the victory of the BJP from Shella constituency in the bye lection slated for October 21, is also the victory of the MDA government, Shullai said that other parties that are part of the MDA government have no choice but to embrace the BJP because without the BJP, the state government will not get money from Delhi.

“The BJP is for corruption free, and one of its mottos is to eradicate corruption. Therefore any scheme to be sanctioned by Delhi we will not allow them to go to somebody’s pocket because the Prime Minister has clearly said that he will indulge in corrupt practices, and will not allow others to corrupt,” Shullai said.

Claiming that the BJP is a clean party, Shullai said that in the last elections, the party did not allot ticket to MPs who indulge in acts of corruption, while exhorting the people of Shella constituency to vote for Warjri to ensure that money for developmental activities reach Shella directly from Delhi.
