Shillong Nov 22: Congress MDC from Mylliem, Ronnie V Lyngdoh has termed the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) as “bad losers” for not taking part in the election for the post of Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Friday.

The Congress is backing the newly formed United Democratic Forum (UDF) led by Independent MDC from Nongthymmai, Latiplang Kharkongor in the KHADC.

Kharkongor was elected to the CEM post in the election which was conducted in the absence of MDCs who are part of the UDA led by former CEM, Teiñwell Dkhar.

Participating in the felicitation of the newly elected CEM, Lyngdoh expressed his confidence under Kharkongor’s leadership, and urged him to protect the interest of the indigenous community.

He however slammed the UDA members and accused them of disrespecting the House by abstaining from the election.

“They (UDA) only proved that they are bad losers and that they are power hunger,” Lyngdoh said.

The UDF comprised of the Congress, a faction of members of the National People’s Party (NPP), People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and Independents. The UDF was formed after the collapsed of the executive committee led by Teiñwell Dkhar as CEM in a no confidence motion.
