Shillong, Feb 17: The United Progressive Front (UPF), which is supporting the MDA government, has decided to leave it to the wisdom of chief minister Conrad K Sangma to resolve the issue related to coal mining in the state.

There has been sense of restlessness among the coal miners over the delay in resuming coal mining activities in the state.

UPF leader and minister, Banteidor Lyngdoh said, “We will leave it to the wisdom of the CM who is also looking after the mining department.”

He said the matter was discussed among the members of the UPF both officially and unofficially on many occasions. “We are concerned as the state is losing huge revenue due to the ban on coal mining.”

Stating that there is no need for blame game, the PDF leader said, “We instead need to work together for the interest of the people and the state.”

He however said that if there is further delay, the UPF will take up the issue in a more aggressive manner.
