CoMSO activists greet Union Minister at ICAR Umïam with ILP demand

Shillong Feb 18: Activists under the banner of the Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisation (CoMSO) on Wednesday held protest at ICAR Umïam and raised their demand to implement the Inner Line Permit (ILP) during the visit of Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Parshottam Rupala.

Rupala came to ICAR Umïam and attended a workshop on Soil Health Card Day and Mission Organic Value Chain Development for NER.

The protesters greeted the Union Minister with placards demanding the implementation of ILP in Meghalaya. The protest was to remind the Centre through any Union Minister who visits the state, regarding the that the demand to implement ILP especially when the Meghalaya Assembly had passed a resolution to urge the Centre to implement the ILP system in the state.

“We welcome and thank the Centre for initiating developmental works in the state and we urge the Centre to give more development schemes. However the Centre should also seriously consider ILP which should be implemented in the state,” the CoMSO said in a statement.

The CoMSO also demand from the Union Home Ministry and Home Minister Amit Shah to approve the implementation of ILP in Meghalaya.
