Meghalaya Tourist cab drivers irks over the money collections at LPG International Airport, Meghalaya driver assaulted

Shillong, Feb 26 2020: Four organizations of Meghalaya belonging Meghalaya People’s Labour Union , Hynniewtrep Tourist Taxi Association, All Shillong Tourist Taxi Drivers’ United Organization and Meghalaya Tourist Taxi Association have asked the Meghalaya Commissioner of Transport to stop the criminal extortion conducted by “Dalals” at LPG International Airport in Guwahati.

In this connection, these organizations have also informed the commissioner that the driver of Tourist Taxi No. ML-05 M 9660, Maitshaphrang Marwein was assaulted by a Dalal on the 22nd of this month for refusing to pay the demand of Rs.600/-.

Earlier on the 6th December 2019, the Hynniewtrep Tourist Taxi Association has writing to the Meghalaya Minister of Transport, Sniawbhalang Dhar regarding the criminal activities at LGB International Airport, Guwahati by Dalals extorting money from Meghalaya Tourist Taxis. This was not taken seriously and eventually led to the assault incident. The letter signed by the leaders of the four organizations asked the Meghalaya Transport Commissioner to take up the matter with the Assam DGP and Assam’s Transport Department, so that, such illegal activities are stopped immediately and protection is given to Tourist Taxi and Drivers carrying passengers from LGP International Airport in Guwahati.
