Shillong, April 14 , 2020: In a bizarre incident, a patient admitted to Bethany Hospital here in Shillong found suicide early Tuesday morning.

“The patient identified as one Tainingstar Jyrwa jumped from the window of his ward in the hospital and died on the spot,” sources.

Hospital sources said that patient, a resident of Mawkyrwat in South West Khasi hills district, was admitted for detoxifying from drugs.

The alleged suicide occurred after a senior doctor of the hospital yielded positive for COVID-19 on Monday night.

Authorities have sealed the hospital building and the entire area to prevent from community transmission of the deadly virus.

Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills district, Matsiewdor War Nongbri has  clamped curfew for 48 hours across Shillong and adjoining areas from Tuesday morning.
