Shillong, Apr 21: Two persons including a police constable was arrested along with heroin from East Jaiñtia Hills District, police said.

A police constable of West Jaiñtia Hills District along with his accomplice was arrested on Monday in a special operation and 3.33 gms Heroin was recovered from their possession. Heroin was meant for sale to users in Jaiñtia Hills, they said.

The constable identified as Chwamiki Lyngdoh (28) of Chutwakhu, Jowai, who is already under suspension travelled from Jowai in police uniform to avoid checking by the authorities.

However, a joint team of ANTF East Jaiñtia Hills, Lumshnong PS, Umkiang PP & Ratacherra CP worked in close coordination and foiled their attempt.

The other arrested accused was identified as Wyrai Chyrmang (21) of Mihmyntdu, West Jaintia Hills District.
Both the vehicle & consignment have been seized. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
