Shillong, May 9: The woman who tested positive for Coronavirus on Saturday in Meghalaya, is not from the same house of the first COVID-19 patient, who passed away on April 15.
The first COVID-19 positive patient, late Dr John L Sailo Ryntathiang died on April 15 after he was tested positive on April 13.
Sailo’s family clarified on Saturday, that there was no contact between the latest patient and any of the members of (L) Dr Sailo family since April 15,†the family said in a statement issued via WhatApp.
“Therefore, the contacts whom she has been exposed to from April 15 onwards cannot be accounted for,†the statement added.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that the latest patient, was one of the 181 primary contacts of the first COVID-19 in Meghalaya.
“This newly infected person happens to be from the same source, that is, from the first patient who is now deceased. She happens to be a maid servant, and had undergone home quarantine since April 14,” Tynsong said.
Meghalaya recorded 13 COVID-19 positive cases, including one dead. Ten others have recovered and two cases are active.
