Another returnee tests positive in Meghalaya

Shillong, June 1 : A woman who had returned from Uttarakhand recently tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, raising the tally of active cases in Meghalaya to 15, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong informed.

With this detection, Meghalaya has registered 28 COVID-19 positive cases, which includes 12 recoveries, one death and 15 active, who are in quarantine.

A total of 11,916 persons, including students, who were stranded in other parts of the country, have returned so far while another 6000 are expected to come in the next few weeks.

Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong informed that the latest patient is a female from South West Garo Hills region.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Alexander Laloo Hek informed that so far, the samples of 8,504 individuals have been sent for testing, out of which, 8, 094 have reported to be negative while the test results of 338 samples were awaited.
