Shillong, June 3 – Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Dr. Jitendra Singh will participate in the e-Symposia series on the topic Emergent North East India: Strategic and Developmental Imperatives organised by the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research & Analysis of IIM Shillong on June 5.
Singh will deliver the inaugural address followed by presentations by a host of speakers including Dr. Inder Jit Singh, Secretary Ministry of DoNER, K Moses Chalai, Secretary of North Eastern Council, and others.
“The e-Symposia series spread between June to August this year will also include deliberations on the Centre’s current policy-related work in the development planning of six critical sectors, i.e. Tourism, Horticulture, Logistics, Handicraft, Handloom, and Business Process Outsourcing in the North East,†an IIM-Shillong statement said.
The conceptual framework is derived from the vision of transforming NER into a natural economic zone encompassing three general subsystems, viz., Technical, Social, and Institutional,†the statement further read.
The Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s Centre for Policy Research & Analysis at IIM Shillong is an outcome of a tripartite agreement between the Institute, Ministry for Development of NER (DoNER) and the North Eastern Council, Shillong signed on October 15, 2016 also marking the late President’s birthday.
