Shillong Jun 10: A woman who was taken to the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) for delivery, tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.
With this, the number of active cases in Meghalaya went up to 30, out of the total 44 positive cases.
The first positive patient had passed away on April 15, and there are 13 persons who have recovered.
On twitter, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, without giving proper information, stated that one high risk contact of a positive patient has tested positive for COVID19 in Shillong.
However Health Minister, A L Hek shared proper information stating that the latest positive patient had returned from Delhi last week, and she was taken to NEIGRIHMS was delivery, and tested positive for Coronavirus.
Hek said that her husband also had tested positive few days back and he is treated at COVID-19 hospital in Shillong Civil Hospital.
The minister informed that the pregnant lady was kept in the labour isolation ward of NEIGRIHMS and doctors are keeping a close watch.
