Shillong, Mar 23: The youth wing of the NPP, the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) has hit out at UDP general secretary, Jemino Mawthoh for demanding the resignation of Power Minister and NPP leader, James K. Sangma.

Nicky Nongkhlaw working president of the NPYF on Tuesday lashed out at Mawthoh for writing to the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma demanding the removal of Sangma and MeECL, CMD, Arun Kumar Kembhavi.

Nongkhlaw said the knowing the difficulties related to electricity that the government was trying to solve guided by the Power Minister and Mawthoh who was a silent spectator of politics all this while suddenly found a good opportunity to gain political mileage.

The NPYF working president said that demanding the ouster of an elected representative and an administrative head does not solve any problem, rather, it delays solutions.

He said that the fact that Sangma and the CMD continuously negotiated for resolving the power cuts issue is why NEEPCO has consented to withdraw its regulations in the first place.

The NPYF suggested Mawthoh to stop being hypocrite and also avoid sounding like a mouth piece of the dying Congress.

Nongkhlaw asked the UDP general secretary to learn from the legislators of his own party who have supported the government in its endeavours.

“They have remained close partners of the NPP-led government in solving issues and being answerable to people. With such mature leadership shown from them in times of crisis, it is sometimes a head-scratcher to figure out how Mr. Mawthoh fits into such a party,” the NPYF working president said.
