Shillong, August 17, 2025: The Parish Youth Association of Pynthorumkhrah marked its Golden Jubilee on Monday with a Gospel Choir Competition at Peter Hall, kicking off a year-long celebration that will culminate in December 2025. The jubilee commemorates the journey of the Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Youth Association, established in 1975, which has grown into a vibrant movement of youth apostolate and community service.
Eight groups took part in the competition: three parish teams from Mawpdang, Nongmensong, and Mawpat, along with five CMC groups from Pynthorumkhrah Parish — St. Thomas CMC, Sacred Heart CMC, St. John Paul Mawpun CMC, U Syiem ki Syiem CMC Langkyrding Mihngi, and CMC Syiem ka Jingsuk Langkyrding.
Performances showcased a blend of traditional voices, modern influences, and innovative musical styles, making the task of the judges especially challenging. In the group category, St. Thomas CMC Pynthorbah emerged as champion, Mawpdang Parish secured second place, and CMC Sacred Heart Lumshyiap finished third.

In the solo category, Kheiñkor Mylliemngap claimed first place, followed by Olivia Mylliempdah in second and Dayonika Shabong in third.
The celebration was graced by Fr. Laurence L. Nongkseh, Parish Priest of Pynthorumkhrah, along with members of the Parish Council, Seng Kynthei, Seng Rangbah, leaders of the Shillong Archdiocese Catholic Youth Movement, and hundreds of young faithful.
The programme concluded with prize distribution and the singing of the Parish Youth Anthem, marking a joyous milestone in the 50-year journey of the association — a journey, inspired by St. Don Bosco, Patron of Youth, that has been marked by struggles, blessings, and enduring achievements.
