Shillong, September 9, 2025: In what is being called the match of the season so far, Mylliem FC held reigning champions Shillong Lajong to a 1-1 draw in the last game of Round 4 of the Shillong Premier League 2025 at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo, today.
Remark Kharmalki (41’) gave Mylliem the lead in the first half with a blistering finish past Lajong goalkeeper Lakpa Lama. The goal was particularly significant, as it was the first conceded by the champions in four matches this season. Lajong fought back in the second half, with captain Iohborlang L Lyngkhoi heading in the equaliser from a Samchaphrang Lato corner in the 76th minute.
Despite Lajong’s dominance, especially from set-pieces and wing play, Mylliem’s defence—anchored by Milancy Khongstia and Wanpynshngain Nongsteng—stood firm. Mylliem goalkeeper Rihoklang Khongjoh also produced crucial saves, including a diving stop against Deibormame Tongper late in the first half.
The game saw several stoppages for injuries, which disrupted Lajong’s rhythm, while Mylliem capitalised on counterattacks through the pace of Kharmalki and Alem Khongwir. Remark nearly doubled his tally but was denied by narrow misses and last-ditch defending.
With the result, Lajong finished Round 4 in third place with 8 points, behind Nangkiew Irat (10) and Mawlai (9). Mylliem climbed to fifth with 5 points and celebrated the draw as a moral victory against the heavyweights.
The SPL 2025 action resumes tomorrow, with Sawmer set to face Rangdajied United at 4:30 PM.
