Shillong, October 8, 2025: The Hid Foundation, Shillong, has lauded the Ri-Bhoi District Police, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shri Vivekanand Singh Rathore, IPS, along with the Ri-Bhoi Traffic Police, for their consistent efforts in enhancing road safety across the district.
In a statement issued by Smt. Jinysha D. Maiong, Chief Executive Officer of the Hid Foundation, the organization expressed heartfelt appreciation for the police’s proactive measures, including regular traffic checks on National Highway 6, especially in the Nongpoh town area. These sustained efforts have played a key role in reducing road accidents, curbing illegal parking, and tackling drunk driving and other traffic violations.
The Foundation acknowledged the dedication and professionalism of the Ri-Bhoi Police in maintaining law and order and ensuring road safety for all commuters, noting that their work has earned the community’s respect and gratitude.
However, the Hid Foundation also voiced concern over the increasing number of road accidents in the region, largely attributed to reckless driving, over-speeding, and negligence—particularly among two-wheeler riders. The organization urged authorities to take strict action against habitual offenders and called upon citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to make the roads safer.
“Together, we can make our roads safer and prevent the loss of precious lives,” said Smt. Maiong, reaffirming the Foundation’s commitment to supporting road safety awareness and responsible driving behaviour.
