Shillong, October 10, 2025: The Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT), Meghalaya, Shillong, inaugurated its Golden Jubilee Year Celebration (2025–2026) on October 10, 2025, at the DERT premises, Nongrimmaw, Laitumkhrah, Shillong.
The theme of the celebration is “Honouring the Past, Empowering the Present, and Shaping the Future.”
This milestone event marks 50 years of DERT’s service in advancing teacher education, educational research and training, and professional development in the State of Meghalaya.
The inaugural programme was graced by Shri Lahkmen Rymbui, Honourable Minister of Education, Government of Meghalaya, as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honour was Shri Vijay Kumar Mantri, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Education Department, while Shri Ryntihlang Rapthap, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Education Department, attended as the Special Guest. The event also saw the presence of other distinguished dignitaries, educationists, and stakeholders from various departments and institutions.
Since its establishment in 1976, DERT has been at the forefront of capacity building for teachers, curriculum and material development, innovative educational research, and numerous programmes aimed at strengthening the quality of teacher education in Meghalaya.
Over the past five decades, the Directorate has played a pivotal role in shaping and improving the education system of the state, continuing its mission to empower educators and nurture excellence in teaching and learning.
