Shillong, Oct 12: Diengshynrum SC became the first team to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Meghalaya Women’s State League 2025 after finishing top of Group C on Saturday.
Representing the East Jaintia Hills District Football Association, Diengshynrum dominated their group, which featured only one other team — Chirupheiwi Nongkynrih FC of the Laskein Block Sports Association. The two sides met twice, home and away, with only the group winner progressing to the next round.
Having won the first leg 2–0 on October 2, Diengshynrum secured qualification in emphatic fashion at home in Khliehriat, crushing their opponents 7–0. Charlinda Nongtdu was the star of the match, netting four goals (8’, 43’, 72’, 85’), while Saphapaya Lyngdoh (12’), Deimonme Lyngdoh (26’), and Hapily Lyngdoh (78’) each contributed a goal to the tally.

Meanwhile, in Group A, Na Rympei FA bounced back from two early defeats with a resounding 14–0 win over Lapalang SSCC. Pynhun Shulet led the goal fest with an incredible seven goals (7’, 18’, 21’, 38’, 63’, 88’, 90’). Teammates Daai (19’), Remika (22’, 42’), Tracy Rympei (30’), Streamlet Taro (45’), Iawanlang Nongbet (54’) and Wanmi Kharpan (60’) also found the back of the net.
Group A features five teams, with the top three advancing to the knockout rounds. Currently, Laitkor SC, Pay For Right FA, and Na Rympei FA occupy those qualifying spots.
In Group B, Saturday’s double-header saw Mawlum Tyrsad SC and Mawten SC play out a goalless draw, while Bright Future SSCC secured a 4–0 victory over Mawsawrit SC thanks to strikes from Ricika Basawiawmoit (5’, 39’), B. Thongni (50’), and H. Nongrum (88’).
Group B is the largest group with six teams, and the top four will advance to the quarterfinals. As of now, Mawlum Tyrsad SC, Bright Future SSCC, Mawten SC, and Young SSCC make up the top four.
The only fixture scheduled for Monday will see Pay For Right FA take on Attacker’s Youth Club at 10 AM in Shillong in a Group A encounter.
