Shillong, Oct 24: The Government of Meghalaya has announced the creation of a new police station at Dakopgre in West Garo Hills District to enhance public convenience and strengthen administrative efficiency.
The new facility, officially designated as Dakopgre Police Station, will have jurisdiction over areas previously under the Tura Police Station.
According to the government notification, the boundaries of Dakopgre Police Station are as follows:
North: Damalgre Police Station, South West Garo Hills District
East: Babadam Outpost
South: Tura Police Station
West: Araimile Police Station
In addition, the Government has notified the creation of three new police outposts across the state to further improve law enforcement and public service delivery. These include:
Maweit Police Outpost in West Khasi Hills District
Ashugre Police Outpost in South Garo Hills District
Jadi Police Outpost in South Garo Hills District
The jurisdictional boundaries of each outpost have also been clearly defined.
Maweit Police Outpost will be bordered by Nongstoin and Mawshynrut Police Stations in the north, Mawkyrwat Police Station in the east, Nonghyllam Police Station in the south, and Shallang Police Station in the west.
Ashugre Police Outpost will cover areas bounded by Digranggre village under Sangknigre PS in the north, Deku village under Chokpot PS in the east, Rimrangpara village under Dalu PS (West Garo Hills) in the south, and Sandong village under Sangknigre PS in the west.
Jadi Police Outpost will have its jurisdiction extending from Rongdong village under Siju PS in the north to Darang Boldak and Pattalgittim villages under Nongalbibra PS in the east and south respectively, and the Simsang River and Rangram Pattal village under Shallang PS (West Khasi Hills) in the west.
The creation of these new police units reflects the state government’s ongoing efforts to decentralize policing and bring law enforcement services closer to local communities.
