Shillong, Oct 24: NPP legislator from Phulbari, Abu Taher Mondal, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Meghalaya State Planning Board (MSPB).
According to a notification issued by C.V.D. Diengdoh, Commissioner and Secretary in charge of the Planning, Investment Promotion & Sustainable Development Department, the appointment has been approved by the Governor of Meghalaya.
“The Governor of Meghalaya is pleased to appoint Shri Abu Taher Mondal as the Chairman of MSPB under Category A+, with perks and facilities as specified in Finance (AF) Department Office Memorandum dated 17.08.2023, with effect from the date of assumption of charge,” the notification stated.
Mondal, a senior leader of the National People’s Party (NPP), previously served as Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly and has held several important positions in the state government.
His appointment comes as part of the state’s efforts to strengthen the Planning Board’s role in coordinating developmental strategies and policy formulation across sectors.
