Shillong, Nov 3:
The inaugural Meghalaya Women’s State League 2025 has reached the quarterfinal stage, with the first knockout fixture set for Tuesday morning at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo. Laitkor SC will take on Mawten SC in the opening quarterfinal, with kick-off scheduled for 10 AM.
The remaining three quarterfinals will all be played on Wednesday, also at the SSA Stadium:
10 AM: Na Rympei Football Academy vs Bright Future SSCC
1 PM: Pay For Right Football Academy vs Mawlum Tyrsad SC
4 PM: Diengshynrum SC vs Jakrem SC
These fixtures mark the beginning of an exciting knockout phase following an intense group stage, which featured 27 matches across four venues — Shillong, Mawlum Tyrsad, and Khliehriat/Laskein. The group stage showcased impressive talent and competitiveness, underscoring the growing strength and potential of women’s football in Meghalaya.
Quarterfinal Draw and Group Stage Highlights
The Meghalaya Football Association conducted the draw for the quarterfinals on 1 November, setting up the path to the semifinals and the final.
From Group A (five teams), the top three earned qualification:
1st: Laitkor SC (Shillong Sports Association)
2nd: Pay For Right Football Academy (SSA)
3rd: Na Rympei Football Academy (Ri-Bhoi District Sports Association)
Group B, the largest with six teams, produced four qualifiers:
1st: Mawlum Tyrsad SC (Tyrsad Area SA)
2nd: Jakrem SC (Mawkyrwat DSA)
3rd: Bright Future SSCC (Pyndengumiong DSA)
4th: Mawten SC (Mawkyrwat DSA)
Group C featured just two teams — Diengshynrum SC (East Jaintia Hills District Football Association) and Chirupheiwi Nongkynrih FC (Laskein Block SA). Diengshynrum topped the group with two wins (home and away) to secure their spot in the quarterfinals.
As the tournament enters its decisive stage, expectations are high for more thrilling performances and milestone moments in Meghalaya’s rapidly growing women’s football landscape.
