Mawkyrwat, Nov 11, 2025: Pyndendiwah village in South West Khasi Hills District has achieved a major milestone under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), with all households now receiving safe and adequate drinking water.
A team led by the Executive Engineer of PHE Mawkyrwat Division, Bah K. Nongbsaw, along with Bah I. Kharbudon, SDO of PHE Mawkyrwat Sub-Division, and Bah P. Myrthong, GE In-charge, visited the village on November 11 to inspect the implementation of the scheme. The JJM project in Pyndendiwah, completed on November 8, 2023, was executed at a total cost of ₹62 lakh.
During the inspection, officials confirmed that the project has been fully successful, providing clean drinking water to 71 households, four Lower Primary Schools, two Upper Primary Schools, one Secondary School, and an Anganwadi Centre.
With every household and institution now having tap water access, Pyndendiwah has earned the recognition of a Har Ghar Jal Village.
Village leaders and residents expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, for introducing the JJM scheme, and extended their appreciation to the Office of the Executive Engineer, PHE Mawkyrwat Division, for ensuring smooth implementation and timely completion of the project.
Speaking during the visit, Executive Engineer Bah K. Nongbsaw expressed satisfaction with the outcome, noting that every family in Pyndendiwah has genuinely benefited from the government’s initiative to provide safe drinking water across rural India.
