Shillong, January 6, 2026: In a first-of-its-kind initiative in Meghalaya, the Pay For Right (PFR) Football Academy will organise the 1st International U-15 Youth League on January 12, 2026, at the Madan Nongkrem Artificial Turf, Shillong. The league is expected to feature teams from various Indian states as well as international participants.
The announcement was made during a press interaction at the Shillong Press Club on Tuesday by Hrishiraj Talukdar and Prashal Sharma, Co-Founders of Prithvi Events & Sports, along with Rilang Mylliempdah, Secretary of the PFR Football Academy.
Speaking to the media, Hrishiraj Talukdar said the primary objective of the International U-15 Youth League is to provide young footballers with the right platform to compete at a higher level during a crucial phase of their development. He added that exposure to teams from outside the state and country would help players gain valuable experience, broaden their understanding of the game, and improve overall footballing skills.
Prashal Sharma stated that organising such a league is an important step towards building a structured pathway for young footballers, allowing them to showcase their talent and gain meaningful exposure. He also highlighted that matches being played on artificial turf would give players the experience of a professional playing environment.
Emphasising the importance of grassroots development, Rilang Mylliempdah said that nurturing players from a young age is vital for producing skilled footballers in the future. He noted that the league is not merely a competition, but a platform aimed at motivating, grooming, and refining young talent.
The PFR Football Academy expressed confidence that the 1st International U-15 Youth League would pave the way for larger football tournaments in the future and contribute significantly to the growth of football in Meghalaya and the North Eastern region.
