Shillong, Jan 13: A formal handing-over ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) conference hall in Polo here, where the newly elected Apex Council members officially assumed charge.
The elections were conducted last month, following which former Meghalaya cabinet minister James PK Sangma was elected as the President of the MCA. He is supported by Vice-President Rajiv Bareh, while Rayonald Kharkamni has returned as the Honorary Secretary. Mebanphira Swer has taken charge as Honorary Joint Secretary, Eddystone Shylla as Honorary Treasurer, and Chuba R Marak as an Apex Council Member.

Members of the outgoing Apex Council were also present at the ceremony, led by the departing President Nababrata Bhattacharjee.
On the occasion, the MCA felicitated players and support staff for their recent achievements. The President and other Apex Council members honoured the Meghalaya U-23 men’s team and officials for winning the plate group of the BCCI State A Trophy 2025-26 one-day tournament.
In addition, Akash Kumar Choudhary and Purav Agarwal were felicitated for being included in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, marking a significant milestone for Meghalaya cricket.
