SHILLONG, Jan 28: The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly has approved a 10-day Budget Session, scheduled to be held from February 16 to February 27, 2026.
The decision was taken at a BAC meeting held on Tuesday and chaired by Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Parliamentary Affairs Prestone Tynsong.
The Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Mukul Sangma, and member Paul Lyngdoh participated in the meeting through online mode.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, the Speaker informed that the session will comprise seven days of Government business and three days of Private Members’ business.
He further stated that the State Budget will be presented on February 20, 2026.
The Speaker added that sitting hours may be extended, if necessary, to allow members to effectively participate in the proceedings of the House. He also informed that on the day the Supplementary Demand for Grants is taken up, the sitting of the House will be extended till 3:00 PM.
