SHILLONG, FEB 11: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Wednesday said it is open to welcoming leaders from other political parties, including former Chief Minister Dr. Mukul A. Sangma, ahead of the upcoming elections in Meghalaya.
Speaking to reporters, senior NCP leader and former Kharkutta MLA O.K. Sangma said the party is prepared to strengthen its organisational base by inducting experienced leaders with vision and leadership qualities.
“We would be happy to welcome leaders who are willing to work for the betterment of the state and strengthen the party,” Sangma said.
Responding to queries, he added that the NCP would welcome Dr. Mukul A. Sangma if he chooses to join the party.
Sangma reiterated that the outcome of the forthcoming elections will ultimately depend on the mandate of the people.
“The outcome of the coming election will depend on the mandate of the people,” he said, stressing that public support and cooperation will play a crucial role in shaping the political future of Meghalaya.
