SHILLONG, FEB 19: Voice of the People Party (VPP) Lok Sabha MP Dr Ricky Andrew J. Syngkon succumbed to a sudden collapse while playing futsal at Mawlai Mawiong on Thursday evening.
He was rushed to Dr HG Roberts Hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 8:45 pm.
The MP, known for his grassroots outreach, represented Shillong in the Lok Sabha after defeating Congress’ Vincent H Pala by 3.7 lakh votes in 2024.
Top political leaders, including Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, and VPP president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, converged on the hospital.
Leaders across party lines mourned his loss, highlighting his efforts to raise regional issues in Parliament.
