Shillong, February 26: Meghalaya marked a proud milestone as two enterprises from Ri-Bhoi district were honoured at the 9th (BMO) Business Membership Organisation MSME Awards held at The Ashok Hotel in New Delhi.
The two award-winning companies are BASUBA Broom Company Ltd, based in Khliehumstem, Ri-Bhoi, which markets processed and finished broom grass (synsar), and ERI WEAVE Private Ltd, owned by Ms. Iaishah Rymbai of Kdonghulu village, Ri-Bhoi, which produces and markets eri silk yarn and fabrics in a variety of designs and styles.
The awards were presented during the 9th edition of the MSME programme organised by the Foundation for MSME Clusters. MSME clusters from across India evaluated participating enterprises based on performance, innovation, and marketing initiatives before selecting the winners.

On the day of the announcement, both Meghalaya-based companies emerged victorious, bringing recognition not only to their villages and district but to the state as a whole.
Receiving the award, Mr. Pynshai Masharing of BASUBA Broom Company Ltd and Ms. Iaishah Rymbai of ERI WEAVE Private Ltd expressed immense happiness, stating that they had never imagined reaching such a prestigious national platform. They described the honour as a moment of pride for their community and Meghalaya.
They further noted that the recognition would serve as strong motivation for rural enterprises striving to promote and market locally produced goods.
The awards were presented by Manoj Tiwari, Member of Parliament from Delhi, in the presence of Mukesh Gulati, Executive Director of the Foundation for MSME Clusters; Nila Madhab Panda, National Award-winning filmmaker and producer; and Dr. Nidhi Pundhir, Senior Vice President (Global CSR) at HCLTech and Director of the HCL Foundation.
The achievement underscores the growing strength, resilience and competitiveness of MSMEs from Meghalaya at the national level, reflecting the state’s expanding footprint in India’s entrepreneurial landscape.
